The Story of Us!

Hello There!
My name is Kelsey and this is my husband Michael :)

I am 22 years old and was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. Michael is 19 and was born in Wilkes, North Carolina but moved to Asheville when he was 5.
North Carolina is the only place we have ever called home, but things are about to change because on August 14th, 2012 Michael enlisted into the United States Army.  This blog is about how we met, what is going on in our lives at the moment, and where the Army is sending us!

I hope you enjoy getting to know a little bit about who we are and what makes us tick!

Here is Our Story:

I met my husband Michael at the mall where we both use to work.  We had both worked within walking distance of each other for two years and had never spoken until a year ago!  I remember but he doesn't! Go figure ;)  The first time we spoke I was thinking how handsome he was but then I turned into a chicken and didn't ask for his number, little did I know he would be asking for my number two months later.
Flash forward to February 2012 the day after Valentine's day.  I was working the morning shift at my old job and felt something come over me.  Nobody believes me when I say this but I am completely serious! Besides why would I say something that wasn't true?...Anyways... ;) The feeling came over me and something reminded me of him, so then I decided to be a total stalker and find him on where you may ask? Well Facebook of course ;)  Again this was a total out of body experience going on here! I ended up finding him through a mutual friend and messaged him.  He responded rather quickly and we talked and then he asked for my number, but first he asked if I had a boyfriend.  Nice move babe, nice move ;)  I gave him my number and then he asked me to go out on a date with him the following Friday which was February 17th.  That Friday came slowly but surely enough we met up after work and headed off to the movies where we saw "Safehouse" and I got to learn how much of a movie buff he really was ;).  After the movie we talked for what seemed like hours until we both had to go home, he texted me to let me know he had gotten home and I realized that I had butterflies, big BIG butterflies.  The next day I brought him coffee (I know, I'm awesome ;) ) and while I was getting it for him, I had the guy at Starbucks write on the cup "Can't wait until tomorrow :)". I saw him blush as one of his workmates handed him the cup and he was very surprised at the gesture!  The next day we had dinner at a local Mexican restaurant and when he walked me to his truck after we finished eating, he opened the truck door and asked me to be his girlfriend.  My response?  We'll see ;) HAHA! Of course I said yes and we dated until May 4th, 2012 which was the day I became his fiance!  He proposed in the gardens at the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC!  He took me by surprise by asking me to be his wife and by also picking out such a perfect ring that I still to this day can't stop looking at!
Right after he asked me!:
As I was looking at his Facebook profile before our first date, I noticed that he had enlisted into the Army and he was leaving in the following August, but that didn't seem like a big enough reason to not talk to him.  We both knew that he was leaving and when it was but we knew that if it was meant to be God would keep us both strong.  God did just that!  After getting engaged, we had set our date for July 26th, 2013 which was the week after Michael would finish AIT.  We talked about having a big wedding and it didn't seem to go with our personalities, so when we were in Charleston, SC in June 2012 for a vacation, we decided on a more intimate wedding with just our closest friends and families. We had always tossed up the idea of just going and getting married one day to save money and all the time planning something out, but we would laugh about it and go on with our day.  Little did we know, God had other plans!
We found out August 1st, 2012 that we were expecting our first child that we now know is a little girl.  No she was not planned, but we both couldn't be happier at the idea of us having a child and watching her grow up with the love that we share and the love we have for her!  When we found out we were both shocked, worried, terrified and speechless for a few days afterwards not knowing what our next move should be.  We prayed about it, talked it through and decided instead of waiting until the following year to get married,  we went ahead.  Monday, August 6th, 2012 we tied the knot at the courthouse in Asheville.  We spent a week together as a married couple and then on August 14th, 2012, Michael left for BCT.
While he was going through his ten weeks of training our love grew stronger through letters and the few phone calls we got. I saw him again on the 24th of October for family day in Ft. Jackson, SC where I ran down the steps onto the field right into his arms and hugged his neck for the first time in ten weeks! That day was amazing!! He spent another 10 weeks in VA for phase I of his AIT and now we are together in Florida for his phase II AIT!
Our first kiss in 10 weeks!:

We are both nervous but excited for what our future will bring and we can't wait to meet our sweet baby E! :)
Please stay tuned for baby updates, moving updates, and other posts!

PS:  The butterflies from our first date?  Yeah, they are still there... ;)
